I preached in English, Bro. Lewis translated into Tok Pisin (Pidgin, national language of PNG), and the local preachers took turns translating the Tok Pisin into the local dialect.
On Jan 12, Bro. Lewis and I laid hands on two local pastors, chosen by the church last year, ordaining them into the ministry.
Many people attended the baptism

The church shared some of their "mumu" (pit bbq)-cooked meal with me, but I didn't get to enjoy much of it, since I didn't think shattered glass from the kitchen window would sit very well in my stomach (see previous post for explanation). =)
This brother removed some of the rocks that were thrown through the window the day before.
On Monday, these men repaired the fence that the mob tore down the previous afternoon
It seems like we had a good downpour every afternoon. One night it came down so heavy we had to stop preaching to let it pass.
It was not easy to say goodbye to these dedicated followers of the Lord Jesus Christ!
From January 8 through 12, 2014, the Lord allowed me to participate in a New Year's Meeting hosted by a local church in a remote mountain village in Papua New Guinea. The Lord truly honored the prayers and preparations made by many people, and saved more than forty souls, thirty-nine of whom received believer's baptism on the last day of the meeting. This special event was not without opposition. The afternoon of Jan 12, the church's meeting house and the home of my hosts was stoned, with more than thirty panes of glass shattered. Our Lord, however, turned this violence into an opportunity for His people to demonstrate Christ-like gentleness, and many other people from the village saw firsthand both the cruelty and unreasonableness of ungodly men contrasted against the meekness and gentleness of Christ, lived out by His people. One of the brothers literally turned the other cheek to his attacker; one of the local pastors simply ran away from the man who struck him, rather than returning blows (he is a strong man, and no doubt could have defended himself). That night, a man who acted as pastor in a neighboring village's church trusted Christ, and on Monday, Jan 13, the other acting pastor and his wife also believed on the Lord Jesus! I received word that since then, another woman has been saved too. Praise the Lord for the great and mighty work He is doing in that part of the world!

One of the windows our attackers broke with rocks (some nearly as big as an American football). Praise the Lord for protecting the three of us in the house and the people outside!
They broke the window right above the desk where I studied.
Singing *after* being physically attacked and seeing their meeting house windows shattered with rocks. Reminds me Paul and Silas in Acts 16.

True modern-day, unsung heroes of the faith, Bro. Lewis and Sis. Judy have labored among these people for years. It was one of the highlights of my life to spend six days with them, learning from their wisdom, faith in God, and persistence in following Christ. (The young lady trusted Christ for salvation on Monday, Jan.13.)
It was difficult to say goodbye to this church. May our Lord Jesus continue to work in and through them for His glory!
Seven years ago, the Lord blessed my life with the most amazing, incredible, wonderful experience of my life (after saving my soul and letting me begin knowing Himself), when He let me become the husband of my one and only Sweetheart.
God has allowed us to become the parents of four healthy children; meet true friends, see beautiful places, eat delicious foods, and serve Him in four countries; and watch Him answer definite prayers throughout these past seven years. Among all these blessings, however, the best to me has been sharing this earthly pilgrimage with the woman of my dreams, the wife of my youth, these past seven years. My God has poured out grace for grace on my life. I will never deserve such blessing, but will ever thank Him for such kindness!
Thank You, Lord, for blessing our family with four healthy, happy children! (My wife took this photo at the Butterfly Park in Bangkok, Thailand, this November.)
